About the role

This Pricing Analyst will form part of a team responsible for the overall risk rating for Employee Benefit Risk schemes—both new and renewal business—across South Africa. The ideal candidate should have a thorough understanding of Group Risk business for different products in South Africa, with specific knowledge of the Retirement Fund industry, including systems, processes, and procedures. This individual will serve as a liaison with all internal and external stakeholders as defined per risk specialist. The role requires a holistic overview of Employee Benefit Risk Business with specific emphasis on sales, quotes, and operations. The overall purpose is to ensure business growth and client retention while achieving profit expectations through continued engagement with stakeholders and a strong understanding of the market space.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the production of new quotes for all benefits
  • Price and design benefits for large/complex new business opportunities
  • Ensure delivery of new business quotations and pricing for renewal business is appropriately concluded
  • Ongoing development of pricing processes
  • Support business development teams to grow the portfolio
  • Manage existing risk book through re-rating of existing schemes
  • Vulnerable schemes management (existing business)
  • Negotiate with clients, reinsurers, brokers, and sales teams on all aspects linked to the Group Risk Business
  • Attend meetings with various stakeholders as required
  • Ensure effective communication between all stakeholders to build and maintain good relationships
  • Ensure accurate and timely provision of information
  • Implementation of strategic projects and business acquisitions
  • Resolve escalated technical queries and complaints
  • Quality control of output
  • Responsible for ongoing technical development and maintenance of the quotation system in line with IT strategy, including reinsurance treaty changes

Requirements

  • Matric Certificate/Grade 12 qualification
  • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of Group Risk retirement fund benefit experience, specifically involved in quoting and pricing activity
  • Strong understanding of the group risk industry
  • Strong technical acumen
  • Strong customer relationship management skills
  • Knowledge of group risk products
