Preventive Maintenance Superintendent
Position Summary
The Preventive Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to ensure optimal operation of all machinery, equipment, and facilities in a high-volume glass manufacturing plant. This role plays a critical part in reducing unplanned downtime, improving equipment reliability, enhancing safety, and maximizing production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and Execute Preventive Maintenance Plans: Design, schedule, and oversee preventive maintenance activities for all critical equipment including furnaces, cutting and forming machinery, annealing lehrs, conveyors, and packaging systems.
Maintenance Strategy & Optimization: Implement data-driven strategies for predictive and preventive maintenance using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
Team Leadership: Lead a team of maintenance technicians and planners. Provide training, mentorship, and performance feedback. Ensure team compliance with safety and operational procedures.
Asset Management & Reliability: Monitor equipment condition and performance, manage spare parts inventory, and ensure timely repairs to extend equipment lifespan and reduce long-term costs.
Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Safety teams to align maintenance strategies with plant goals. Communicate maintenance schedules and downtime effectively to minimize impact on production.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA regulations, environmental standards, and company policies. Promote a culture of safety and proactive maintenance.
Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and failures. Provide regular reports on KPIs, downtime analysis, and maintenance efficiency.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of experience in preventive or predictive maintenance on glass manufacturing
Experience with converting machines as indexing and continuous machines
Experience with Vision systems troubleshooting and preventive maintenance routines
Proven leadership experience managing maintenance teams
Strong knowledge of industrial machinery, electrical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics
Solid understanding of safety regulations and environmental standards
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
Experience in Glass manufacturing preferred
Bilingual preferred (spanish - english)
