Preconstruction Manager - Mechanical Construction
About the role
Founded in the late 1980s, we are a Phoenix-based mechanical contractor with 250 employees supporting HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal, and mechanical construction across various sectors including commercial, industrial, institutional, and public sector clients. We deliver large-scale mechanical system installations, complex renovations, ground-up mechanical scopes, and long-term service work throughout Arizona. Our preconstruction team focuses on estimating, budgeting, planning, and early-phase coordination for mechanical projects involving HVAC systems, hydronic piping, plumbing systems, process piping, and full MEP integration. We work closely with owners, general contractors, engineers, and design teams to define scopes, review designs, and prepare accurate budgets.
Responsibilities
- Lead preconstruction planning efforts for commercial MEP projects from pursuit through project turnover
- Partner with estimating, operations, BIM, fabrication, procurement, and field teams to develop execution strategies
- Review budgets, schedules, labor projections, constructability, and project risks prior to construction start
- Drive value engineering, prefabrication opportunities, manpower forecasting, and operational planning initiatives
- Support project pursuits, client presentations, and business development efforts
- Improve project planning processes, standardization, productivity, and overall operational performance
Requirements
- 8+ years of commercial construction experience with strong MEP exposure
- 3+ years in preconstruction, estimating, operations, or project management leadership
- Experience with commercial mechanical, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or design-build construction projects
- Strong understanding of project scheduling, constructability reviews, budgeting, and risk management
- Knowledge of BIM coordination, prefabrication, and Lean Construction principles
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills

$130,000 - $160,000 + 10-15% Bonus
