Preconstruction Manager - Industrial/Mechanical

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service and set up medium-size to large, complex projects for success through delivery of preconstruction services.
  • Develop and deliver preconstruction services, leading the project team and design consultants, predicting cost and schedule, and advocating for owners.
  • Seamlessly transition preconstruction services to the operations team.
  • Oversee and lead the project team, ensuring standardization of operating practices, business processes, and reporting among business units.
  • Collaborate with operations, business development, preconstruction team members, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are turned over for success with the expected level of profitability and complete, accurate documentation is given at construction hand-off.
  • Understand clients' needs to manage the process efficiently, ensure timely completion, understand local logistics/subcontractor and supplier market, and utilize BIM/LEED/LEAN effectively.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and co-workers; initiate third-party relationships when opportunities arise.
  • Lead preconstruction meetings, when appropriate.
  • Adhere to all company policies, standards, and procedures.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or an industry-related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years’ experience of extensive estimating and/or project management in industrial-related construction fields is required.
  • Proven history of leading, teaching, developing, and mentoring others successfully.
  • Independent judgment, business acumen, client relations, negotiation, decision-making, conflict resolution, problem-solving, effective internal and external communication, project management, team leadership, tact, adaptability, and analytical abilities are necessary skills.
  • The ability to accurately evaluate and interpret technical drawings.
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with Weitz core values while maintaining a "value-added" approach to preconstruction.
  • Proficiency with operating systems and basic computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Timberline Estimating, and the ability to learn other specific software.
