About the role

This position is paraprofessional work which requires the teacher assistant to assist the classroom teacher in providing full-time and individualized instruction to students whose first language is not English. This position assists in a variety of tasks and helps carry out instructional procedures as directed by the classroom teacher. This position performs work under the direct supervision of the teacher, building administrator, and E.S.L. supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing full-time and individualized instruction to students whose first language is not English
• Absorb and implement instructional procedures as directed by the classroom teacher
• Perform a variety of tasks to support classroom operations
• Work under the direct supervision of the teacher, building administrator, and E.S.L. supervisor

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid California driver’s license
• Knowledge of English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching methods
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

• Experience working with English Language Learners (ELLs)
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
