Autism Teacher Assistant - 188 Day

About the role

This position is paraprofessional work that requires the teacher assistant to assist the classroom teacher in performing a variety of tasks after training, i.e., emergency plans, health-related plans/services, and carrying out instructional procedures. This position performs work under the direct supervision of the teacher, building administrator, and appropriate Special Education Department administrator.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing classroom management strategies
• Support students with special needs according to individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Help prepare and maintain instructional materials and resources
• Participate in planning and executing lessons as directed by the teacher
• Provide support during group and one-on-one instruction
• Monitor student behavior and progress towards goals
• Collaborate with other school staff to ensure student success

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Current CPR and First Aid certification
• Experience working with children in a school setting preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues

Pay

The salary range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Schedule

Hours are typically 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
