Autism Teacher Assistant - 188 Day

About the role

This position is paraprofessional work that requires the teacher assistant to assist the classroom teacher in performing a variety of tasks after training, i.e., emergency plans, health-related plans/services, and carrying out instructional procedures. This position performs work under the direct supervision of the teacher, building administrator, and appropriate Special Education Department administrator.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing classroom instruction and activities
• Support students with special needs according to individualized education plans
• Help manage classroom environment and behavior
• Prepare materials and resources for lessons
• Assist in maintaining student records and documentation
• Participate in professional development and training sessions

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification or ability to obtain within one year
• Experience working with children and special education students preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

• Pass a background check
• Pass a criminal history check
• Pass a drug screening

Skills

• Knowledge of special education principles and practices
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Pay

The salary range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Hours are typically 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with some evening and weekend work required.
