About the role
As a Practice Specialist at Blue Ridge Hospital with Mission Health, you will support the clinical practice by scheduling appointments, registering patients, and providing excellent customer service. This role includes a variety of duties associated with daily operations and serves as backup support for Practice Specialist I.
Responsibilities
- Support practice operations by maintaining knowledge of daily clinic activities and accurately scheduling patients.
- Obtain patient and referral information to complete the scheduling process.
- Schedule appointments and procedures, ensuring patients understand details such as date, time, and location.
- Monitor the daily schedule, communicate changes to providers and patients, and document cancellations, reschedules, and no-shows.
- Follow clinician orders to schedule tests, procedures, or follow-up appointments for continuity of care.
- Register patients by entering demographics and insurance information into practice management software.
- Explain the general billing process to patients and direct them to appropriate personnel for further questions.
- Ensure insurance referrals and authorizations are obtained prior to appointments to support revenue collection.
- Provide excellent customer service by answering phones, delivering messages promptly, and maintaining knowledge of practice services.
- Greet customers courteously, maintain a presentable waiting area, and project a positive image of the practice.
- Check on patients post-surgery or procedure to support excellence in patient care.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including obtaining paperwork, verifying information, and collecting copayments.
- Provide backup support for Practice Specialist I and complete other duties as assigned.
- Prioritize tasks and manage interruptions efficiently to maintain workflow.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED.
- No prior experience required; 1 year of experience preferred.
