About the role

The Medical Assistant (MA) supports providers by delivering direct and indirect patient care in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner. The MA may assist with clinical procedures, maintain accurate documentation, and provide administrative support to ensure smooth daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Assists with clinical procedures as directed by providers.
• Maintains accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Provides administrative support to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Functions within their defined scope of practice based on office type (clinic/Hospital Outpatient Department).
• Works under supervision and in alignment with Mercy's mission and standards of care.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must actively maintain MA certification.
• One year of applicable patient care experience in an outpatient or ambulatory care setting (preferred for non-Hospital Outpatient Departments).
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (preferred for non-Hospital Outpatient Departments).

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• New hire must attend MA Clinic Academy training.

• Proficiency with EHR systems and clinical documentation.
