About the role
The Manager, Outpatient Oncology position plays a critical role in supporting patient access, financial clearance, scheduling operations, and reimbursement services. This is a multi-site leadership role supporting the Regional Cancer Center, Bonita Health Center, and future Cape Coral Cancer Center (opening September 2027).
Responsibilities
- Provide operational leadership for a team of approximately 14 employees, including Customer Service Representatives, Schedulers, Reimbursement Specialists, Prior Authorization Specialists, and Financial Navigators.
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop staff while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence.
- Oversee daily operations across multiple outpatient oncology locations.
- Ensure efficient workflows for scheduling, insurance verification, prior authorizations, financial navigation, and reimbursement functions.
- Serve as the operational expert for complex insurance authorization processes and payer requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, patient access, and financial performance.
- Partner closely with nursing leadership, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to support exceptional patient care.
- Assist with workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and team development as the oncology program continues to grow.
- Monitor operational metrics, productivity, quality, and patient satisfaction while implementing process improvements.
- Support organizational initiatives and help prepare for continued expansion, including the future Cape Coral Cancer Center.
Requirements
- Education: Associate degree in management or related field required, or a combination of education and management experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Bachelors degree and or ACMPE (American College of Medical Practice Executives) certification preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years healthcare leadership experience required. Physician office experience preferred. Experience with creating budgets and communicating financial information to staff and providers required. Knowledge of ambulatory care operations and a background in clinic procedures including schedule management, patient registration, use of electronic health record, patient flow, billing and referrals and authorizations.

- Other: Computer proficiency including word-processing and spreadsheet applications and knowledge of electronic health record and billing software applications. Excellent written and oral communications skills including superb interpersonal skills and be able to handle difficult conversations effectively. Able to express opinions openly and honestly and provide feedback in a timely and productive manner. Ability to examine and re-engineer operations and workflows and report operational metrics to staff and providers. Flexibility to accommodate changes in workload assignments and react calmly and effectively in stressful situations. Ability to work independently and set priorities under minimal supervision. Ability to work within the defined values, mission and vision of the organization.
