About the role
Join a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Practice Manager in the Medical Oncology Department. UChicago Medicine houses the #1 Cancer Center in the state of Illinois.
Responsibilities
- Establishes staff schedule and daily assignments.
- Responsible for time and attendance and monitoring overtime.
- Oversight of practice specific issues with IS, facilities, EVS, supplies, etc.
- Ensures practice compliance with regulatory agencies (i.e. JCAHO, IDPH, CAP/CLIA).
- Collaborates with providers and staff to ensure efficient patient throughput.
- Actively monitors performance metrics and daily reports to make real time adjustments.
- Serves as the champion for continued process improvement work.
- Promotes excellence in all areas of ambulatory operations.
- Ensures patients and family’s needs are met.
- Participates in service recovery at the point of issue.
- Ensures necessary follow-up.
- Collaborates closely with scheduling groups (i.e. Burr Ridge call center, OR scheduling).
- Maintains the operating budget for labor and non-labor expenses.
- Oversees charge entry, denials, disputes and billholds.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare and customer service; 2+ years of supervisory experience in a multispecialty ambulatory practice preferred.
- A completed Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic body.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to independently manage large and complex organizational units with varying needs.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple physician leaders; experience in an academic medical center environment with 12 or more providers preferred.
- Exceptional talent in the selection and mentoring of a high-quality team.
- Proven ability to use data to drive performance improvement; knowledge of hospital information systems preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using LEAN or other process improvement frameworks is desirable.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business administration or a healthcare related field is preferred.
- Six Sigma Certification Lean Certification.
