Responsibilities

  • Provides direct and indirect patient care in the medical-surgical setting under the direct supervision of a registered nurse preceptor.
  • Communicates with RN preceptor about changes in patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
  • Participates in the department's performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Demonstrates supportive behaviors for bedside report using IMAP & SBAR (in partnership with the patient inside the room).
  • Performs head-to-toe assessments on all patients and reassessments as per policy, including pediatric, geriatric, and general patient populations.
  • Adequately assesses and reassesses pain, utilizing appropriate pain management techniques and reporting to RN preceptor.
  • Educates patients and families regarding pain management.
  • In coordination with RN preceptor, formulates a patient care plan.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Completed the fundamentals course in nursing school (verified proof required).
  • Certified as a C.N.A., EMT, or Paramedic.
  • Current BLS certification.
