About the role
The POSO Coordinator II reports to a POSO Business Partner and is part of a team of deployed professionals who are centrally employed by the Department for People Operations, Success, and Opportunity (POSO) while serving as embedded consultative partners to designated academic and/or administrative units. This position provides frontline POSO support to managers and employees within the Colleges of Business and Engineering & Technology, ensuring the timely, accurate, and consistent execution of people-related processes.
As the primary point of contact for recruitment, hiring, and employment transactions, this role supports the effective implementation of POSO policies, procedures, and service standards. The Coordinator II contributes to workforce planning, onboarding, offboarding, performance management tracking, policy communication, and process improvement initiatives. This position focuses on operational excellence, customer service, and process adherence, applying and promoting human resources best practices to support unit goals.
The work involves developing and maintaining productive, collaborative relationships with POSO teams and external units by listening, understanding, and responding to needs, resolving problems, and continually seeking to provide high-quality service. Employees are expected to maintain confidentiality of all information.
Responsibilities
- Provide frontline POSO customer-focused services, resolving issues, ensuring compliance, and escalating complex matters appropriately (30%)
- Serve as the primary POSO advisor and administer compliant, full-cycle recruitment and employment processes (40%)
- Partner with managers to support performance processes and enhance the employee experience (15%)
- Serve as functional backup and escalation resource to Coordinator I, collaborate with POSO experts to resolve issues, and contribute to training and continuous improvement efforts (15%)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of progressively responsible human resources management experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience
- All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and ethics
- Experience in problem-solving and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies
- Experience using HR systems (including but not limited to Banner, PeopleAdmin, Salesforce, etc.) and ability to learn new technical systems
- Experience in higher education or similarly complex, regulated organizations
- Knowledge of recruitment, hiring, and employment lifecycle processes
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills

Pay
$62,115 - $72,000 per year. Salary offered may be outside of this range as impacted by budget, UNC salary administration, and/or candidate qualifications.
