Portfolio Manager Sr

About the role

An experienced Senior Portfolio Manager supports the Charlotte Commercial & Middle Market team by providing credit analysis, underwriting, and portfolio management for commercial and corporate borrowers. This role involves leading loan structuring, origination, and servicing in a fast-paced environment, working independently with team support, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with Credit Analysts.

Responsibilities

• Leading analysis, underwriting, and management of a growing loan portfolio
• Applying risk assessment and mitigation skills
• Utilizing risk grading methodology aligned with the bank’s credit appetite
• Managing relationships with C&I and CRE borrowers
• Partnering with Relationship Managers to develop client proposals, cross-sell products, and identify client needs
• Overseeing post-approval due diligence and loan documentation
• Maintaining a high-quality portfolio of clients and ensuring credit standards
• Delegating tasks to junior team members and providing developmental feedback

Qualifications

• 6-8 years of commercial underwriting and portfolio management experience
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

Skills

• Proficiency in financial analysis, legal document review, and decision-making
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Strong computer proficiency in Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Organizational, customer service, and problem-solving skills
