Portfolio Manager Sr

About the role

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Portfolio Manager to work onsite with the Charlotte Commercial & Middle Market team. This role partners with local Relationship Managers and provides daily credit analysis, underwriting, and portfolio management support for assigned commercial and corporate borrowers in a fast-paced, production-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the analysis, underwriting, origination, and portfolio management of loans in a growing commercial and corporate portfolio.
• Utilize loan structuring, risk identification, and risk mitigation skills.
• Apply the Bank’s risk grading methodology and credit appetite.
• Manage relationships with C&I and income-producing real estate (CRE) borrowers.
• Partner with Relationship Managers to call on current or potential clients, identify needs for commercial products and services, develop lending proposals, and uncover cross-sell opportunities.
• Oversee post-approval due diligence requirements and commercial loan documentation preparation.
• Build and maintain a portfolio mix of targeted high-value and high-potential clients, ensuring credit quality and portfolio servicing are maintained.
• Delegate tasks related to the origination and servicing of the loan portfolio to junior team members and provide mentoring and guidance.

Requirements

• Minimum 6 to 8 years of commercial underwriting and portfolio management experience.
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent in work experience) required.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents; perform calculations; and research, analyze, and evaluate information to make decisions and solve problems.
• Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing, with senior executives, business unit management, regulators, and business partners.
• Accurate typing, spelling, and grammar skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong organizational and customer service skills.
