About the role

Instructors serve as either part-time or full-time members of the faculty in the School of Business. FTE is determined by the course load. Instructors are a non-tenure track faculty position. Teaching assignments may include undergraduate and/or graduate courses offered by the School of Business on the Lawrence Campus, off-campus programs, and/or online programs. Appointments are one semester, renewable, subject to review and funding.

The successful candidate must have appropriate authorization to work in the U.S. before employment begins. This is a union-covered position within the collective bargaining unit represented by United Academics of KU, AFT-AAUP, AFL-CIO.

Responsibilities

100% Teaching. Teach one or more courses in Business Analytics, Information, or Operations. Courses may be required or electives, in undergraduate or graduate programs, and range from 1-4 credit hours.

  • Consultations
  • Assignment of grades

Instructors should abide by the area's, School's, and University's policies and procedures.

Requirements

For undergraduate courses:

  • Master’s degree in relevant discipline or closely related field.
  • A demonstrated record of teaching in an academic setting or a record of mentorship, leadership, or training experience in a professional setting.

For master’s level courses:

Meets one of the following combinations of education and professional experience:

  • A terminal degree/professional degree in relevant discipline, OR
  • A master’s degree plus seven years of relevant experience.
  • A demonstrated record of teaching, training, research, scholarship, or professional achievement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching courses in information systems.
  • A strong record of professional experience in information systems or related field.
  • Ability to design and deliver new courses successfully.
  • Strong ties to the professional business community as demonstrated by employment or consulting activities.

Pay

Competitive, depending on experience and qualifications.
