About the role
Join the Pennsylvania State Police as a Police Communications Operator and support public safety by managing critical information during emergency events.
Responsibilities
- Receive and assess calls from the public and 911 operators to determine response needs
- Relay essential details to Troopers and partner agencies through phone, radio, and computer systems
- Maintain accurate incident records and research information using required systems
- Respond to administrative questions and assist station visitors with requested information
- Attend communications training and support the learning of new operators
Qualifications
- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience using two-way radio, multi-line telephone, or computer aided dispatch systems; or Two years of experience using computer systems for entering, updating, and retrieving information; or Completion of 60 college credits; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Special Requirements: Clear, firm voice; no major speech, hearing, or visual impairments; Active Public Safety Telecommunicator certification; Active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) and Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) certifications.
- Additional Requirement: Ability to perform essential job functions.
- Legal Requirements: Report of medications for screening by the State Police Medical Officer; Background investigation and CJIS compliance requirements.
