Plumber II - Fire Suppres. (#010139) Facilities Management (Columbia), Richland

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage an automatic fire sprinkler protection maintenance, repair, and inspection program throughout SCDC in accordance with NFPA 25 and state Fire Marshall regulations.
• Perform maintenance on all sprinkler systems and water distribution systems.
• Supervise and install sprinklers and related systems in construction and renovation projects.
• Establish on-call procedures to respond to emergency sprinkler maintenance and repair calls, ensuring work is promptly and properly performed.
• Prepare justification and requisitions for supplies.
• Remain abreast of new sprinkler techniques, procedures, and equipment; recommend procurement and assist in supervising the installation of new sprinkler and underground utilities.
• Maintain NICET certification, level three or higher.
• Successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Five (5) years of trades experience directly related to fire/sprinkler systems.
• Ability to supervise, direct, instruct, and work with other people.
• Obtain a backflow tester license through DHEC.

Qualifications

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of air, water, gas, or waste disposal systems.

Preferred: Experience and expertise in fire/sprinkler systems beyond the minimum requirements.
