About the role

This dual-role position provides supervisory coverage across multiple departments, shifts, or locations while also handling material movement and storage. The Floating Supervisor/Material Handler ensures production continuity, safety, and quality standards are met, supports staffing needs, and maintains efficient material flow throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as acting supervisor across assigned departments, shifts, or locations, providing direction, coaching, and oversight to employees.
  • Ensure production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met.
  • Enforce company policies, procedures, and work rules; monitor attendance, productivity, and performance.
  • Assist with employee training, onboarding, and respond to operational issues or disruptions.
  • Complete required reports, timekeeping approvals, and documentation; coordinate with maintenance, Quality, HR, and management.
  • Support continuous improvement, housekeeping, and 5S initiatives.
  • Load, unload, and transport raw materials, components, and finished goods using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.
  • Supply production lines with materials according to schedules; verify materials against work orders.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, report shortages or discrepancies, and remove scrap/waste.
  • Keep storage areas clean and organized; assist with shipping and receiving as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; trade school certification preferred.
  • 2-5 years of supervisory or lead experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or operations.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills; ability to adapt quickly to different teams and priorities.
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations and company policies.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or multiple shifts (this role covers all three shifts).

Workplace Conditions

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout production areas for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Fast-paced manufacturing or warehouse environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
