About the role
As a Plant Operator at our Marshall, MN asphalt plant, you will ensure the overall operation of the terminal, including receipt and shipment of raw materials and asphalt products, manufacturing, lab testing, inspection, recordkeeping, and general equipment maintenance. You will coordinate with schedulers to support delivery and production of asphalt products to meet customer demands.
Responsibilities
- Use the data management system to input computer data and manage assigned duties
- Support the team in managing small projects
- Oversee product production and transfers
- Perform equipment maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting
- Conduct testing of system safety devices
- Perform periodic inspections of tanks, valves, piping, and other product quality control tasks
Requirements
- Ability to meet all physical requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Willing and able to respond within an approximate 45-minute drive of the terminal in Marshall, MN
Physical Requirements
- Medically approved to participate in the respiratory protection and HAZWOPER programs
- Frequently stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, handle, bend, twist, climb, and balance
- Lift up to 50 pounds (with frequent carrying of up to 25 pounds)
- Respond to audio alarms or other loud noises indicating safety concerns
- Work near moving mechanical parts, in wet or humid conditions, and in outdoor weather conditions
- Work in high, precarious places
- Work around fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals
Qualifications
What will put you ahead:
- Two (2) years or more of operations/maintenance experience in a storage terminal
- A two-year technical or mechanical degree
- Experience in a bulk storage terminal and/or pipeline operation
- Mechanical, electrical, or process work experience

Pay
We anticipate paying $25 - $30 per hour. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
Schedule
April–November: Monday–Thursday, 4:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Fridays alternate between a 4:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. shift and a 4:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. shift.
November–April: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Every other Friday is worked from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., with alternating Fridays off (9/80 schedule).
