About the role

Oversees the safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally sound operation of all plant equipment at our Nipton, CA facility.

Responsibilities

  • Properly operate all equipment related to the steam generator, solar field, steam turbines, and plant auxiliary equipment during routine, abnormal, and emergency conditions.
  • Thoroughly understand and execute the equipment Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedure.
  • Monitor and record data using instruments, recording charts, annunciator systems, computer platforms, and other monitoring devices.
  • Utilize and professionally maintain shift logbooks following protocol; communicate information clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Follow required communication protocols for two-way radio, telephone, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose operational problems or provide detailed information for maintenance referrals.
  • Generate and review work requests for equipment repair.
  • Assist in corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance for which you are qualified, including the use of tools, equipment, and company vehicles.
  • Actively participate in all required regulatory training and engage in self-directed training to advance to the position of Control Operator.
  • Assist in training other Operators.
  • Perform any and all other technical and administrative duties associated with operating and maintaining a power facility.
  • Work independently and/or in work crews.
  • Work rotating shifts, including night shifts and weekends, and be available for overtime as needed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with electrical/construction projects and knowledge of basic IT equipment.
  • Understanding of general workplace safety and ability to follow and improve safety standards.
  • Ability to excel in a collaborative, cross-functional, and geographically diverse organization.
  • Maturity, professionalism, and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • High energy, strong interpersonal skills, and a solid work ethic.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to synthesize complex analysis and support key decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in research, highly technical equipment, and engineering.
  • Excellent hands-on abilities with strong technical skills.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer with proficiency in standard business software.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (single craft journeyman skills), such as electrical measurements, control circuits, hydraulics, solid-state theory, and pneumatics.
  • Basic knowledge of operational characteristics of equipment and associated control devices installed in power facilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Work long periods at a computer terminal.
  • Work rotating shifts, including overtime.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including fire-resistant uniforms, steel-toed EH-rated work boots, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, fall protection, and other job-specific PPE.
  • Lift up to 35 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, and work at high elevations.
  • Work in extreme weather conditions, both hot and cold.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $81,312 - $121,968. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including location, experience, and performance. Other rewards may include annual bonus, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards.
