Plant operator
About the role
The Plant Operator will be responsible for safely handling and filling gas products into liquid, medical and high pressure gas cylinders in compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and meeting the standard operating procedures of Airgas. The Loader will also be responsible for meeting all safety standards in the loading and unloading of cylinder gases per Airgas procedures. Performs cylinder analyses & supports alignment with government and company standards. Calculates gas mixtures to contribute to quality standards and documents results. Ensures that a mixture can be safely made. Identifies and coordinates cylinder and valve combinations to ensure compatibility with the mix and compliance. Operates control panels, containing valves and pressure gauges, and scales with a precision-oriented approach to gas mixtures. Completes all meaningful records to accurately capture all production actions. Upholds and promotes company procedures and government regulations relating to the safe handling of hazardous materials. Safely operates a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse/material-handling equipment. Loads/unloads cylinders on/off pallets; ensuring they are strapped in. Contributing to team success as needed.
Responsibilities

- Complete all necessary records accurately
- Uphold and promote company procedures and government regulations regarding hazardous materials
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment
- Load and unload cylinders on/off pallets, ensuring they are properly secured
- Contribute to team success as needed
Requirements
- High school degree or GED
- Mechanical aptitude
- Lives by Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and related rules, regulations, procedures
- A minimum of 1 year of related technical experience
- In lieu of specific industry experience, may accept an equivalent combination of education and experience
Qualifications
- Prior Experience Utilizing SAP Or Similar ERP System (preferred)
- Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite or Microsoft Office applications (preferred)
- Demonstrated knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals (required)
- Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent (required)
