About the role
The Behavioral Health team at Essentia Health is seeking a licensed psychiatrist to provide behavioral health services to patients across various age groups. The ideal candidate should have pediatric experience and competence, but it is not a requirement.
Responsibilities
- Conducting health screenings and psychiatric evaluations.
- Prescribing, monitoring, managing, and evaluating psychopharmacological medications.
- Providing integrated mental health services in general health settings.
- Collaborating with other psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, nurse practitioners, and support staff.
- Serving as a resource for patients and families, offering support and guidance.
- Collaborating with other departments and specialties when necessary to address complex medical needs and comorbid mental health concerns.
- Seeking consultation and referring patients to other providers when necessary.
- Building rapport with patients and prescribing medications, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention.
- Staying calm and focused in a busy environment, using good judgment in emergency situations.
Requirements
- MD degree with Board Certification or Board Eligibility in psychiatry.
- ABPP certification preferred, though not required.
- Child/adolescent certification preferred, though not required.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.
Skills
- Competent and confident in providing psychiatric services.
- Highly developed analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships and use tact, discretion, and diplomacy when working with others.
- Good judgment in emergency situations.
- Keyboard skills and basic computer skills.
