About the role
The Behavioral Health Division at Essentia Health is seeking a licensed psychiatrist to provide behavioral health services to patients across various age groups. This role offers a mix of outpatient and potential inpatient/ED consults, with a preference for pediatric experience.
Responsibilities
- Conduct health screenings and psychiatric evaluations.
- Prescribe, monitor, manage, and evaluate psychopharmacological medications.
- Provide integrated mental health services in general health settings.
- Collaborate with other psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, nurse practitioners, and support staff.
- Seek consultation and refer patients to other providers when necessary.
- Collaborate with other departments and specialties as needed.
- Build rapport and prescribe medications, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention.
- Establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.
- Utilize advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision-making skills.
- Work both independently and in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Requirements
- MD degree with Board Certification or Board Eligibility in psychiatry.
- ABPP certification preferred, though not required.
- Child/adolescent certification preferred, though not required.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.
Skills
- Competent and confident in providing psychiatric services.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships and use tact, discretion, and diplomacy.
- Good judgment in emergency situations.
- Keyboard skills and basic computer skills.
