About the role

The Behavioral Health Division at Essentia Health is seeking a licensed psychiatrist to provide behavioral health services to patients across various age groups. This role offers a mix of outpatient and potential inpatient/ED consults, with a preference for pediatric experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct health screenings and psychiatric evaluations.
  • Prescribe, monitor, manage, and evaluate psychopharmacological medications.
  • Provide integrated mental health services in general health settings.
  • Collaborate with other psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, nurse practitioners, and support staff.
  • Seek consultation and refer patients to other providers when necessary.
  • Collaborate with other departments and specialties as needed.
  • Build rapport and prescribe medications, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.
  • Utilize advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision-making skills.
  • Work both independently and in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • MD degree with Board Certification or Board Eligibility in psychiatry.
  • ABPP certification preferred, though not required.
  • Child/adolescent certification preferred, though not required.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.

Skills

  • Competent and confident in providing psychiatric services.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships and use tact, discretion, and diplomacy.
  • Good judgment in emergency situations.
  • Keyboard skills and basic computer skills.
