About the role

The Behavioral Health team at Essentia Health is seeking a psychiatrist to provide behavioral health services to individual patients across the lifespan. The practice will consist of primarily outpatient care with the possibility of rotating inpatient/ED consults.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting health screenings and psychiatric evaluations.
  • Prescribing, monitoring, managing, and evaluating psychopharmacological medications.
  • Providing integrated mental health services in general health settings.
  • Collaborating with other psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, nurse practitioners, and support staff.
  • Serving as a resource for patients and families, building rapport, and prescribing medications.
  • Building effective working relationships and using tact, discretion, and diplomacy when working with others.
  • Staying calm and focused in a busy environment, utilizing good judgment in emergency situations.
  • Utilizing advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision-making skills, working both independently and in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Establishing and enhancing positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.

Requirements

  • MD degree with Board Certification or Board Eligibility in psychiatry.
  • ABPP certification preferred, though not required.
  • Child/adolescent certification preferred, though not required.

  • Highly developed analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
