Physician (Psychiatrist) Medical Director, MH - Recruitment/Relocation Incentive/EDRP Authorized
About the role
A full-time, permanent position is available for Medical Director of the Fort Worth Mental Health Clinic in the VA North Texas Health Care System Mental Health Service (VANTHCS MHS) in Fort Worth, TX. This is an in-person position.
Responsibilities
- Leading and coordinating the operations of a multidisciplinary outpatient team with a focus on uninterrupted high-quality care to Veterans.
- Monitoring and ensuring compliance with VANTHCS and mental health policies, regulations, executive orders and management directives.
- Collaborating with other teams and team leaders to improve communication and ensure ongoing continuity of care for Veterans.
- Planning, organizing, and directing administrative, operational, patient, and personnel activities for the team.
- Coordination of interdisciplinary staffing, work assignments, resource allocation, and direct patient care.
- Providing comprehensive psychiatric medical care (assessment, consultation, treatment).
- Skilled in general outpatient psychiatry, including diagnostic evaluations, pharmacotherapy, and psychotherapy.
- Competent in managing individuals with a broad range of clinical problems, including post-traumatic stress disorder, mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, and psychiatric disorders in the elderly Veteran population.
- Serving as a collaborative member of a multidisciplinary mental health team.
- Providing clinical supervision for health care professionals such as Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Clinical Pharmacy Specialists.
- Acting as formal collaborating physician for Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners.
- Providing shared administrative supervision for Social Workers, Psychologists, Peer Support, and Nursing staff.
- Preferred leadership experience of a multi-disciplinary team.
Requirements
- Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.
- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- ABPN or AOBNP board certified or eligible or anticipated eligibility.
- Physical Requirements: The position requires compliance with VA Handbook and VASTHCS Policy related to physical requirements.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
