Physician Practice RN

Job Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers professional nursing care in the UHS Physician Practice setting, supporting Healthcare Providers and office staff in the coordination and delivery of safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care. Responsibilities include but are not limited to triaging and care disposition of patients, clinical care, assisting providers as needed, facilitating care transitions, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and quality standards. The RN is accountable for maintaining compliance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services Hospitals and Nursing Division policies, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice, the ANA Code of Ethics, and the Patient Bill of Rights. Job Responsibilities Patient Care and Clinical Duties:Triages and assesses patients, in person and/or via telephone, utilizing appropriate protocols to ensure timely and appropriate interventions. Conducts patient intake including history, vital signs, and health screenings. Administers medications and immunizations as ordered. Assists providers with examinations, minor procedures, diagnostic testing, and treatments. Performs wound care, dressing changes, and specimen collection. Educates patients and their support system on treatment plans, preventative care, and follow-up instructions. Supports chronic disease management and preventative screenings. Communicates test results and care instructions to patients and/or support system. Collaborates with the health care team to coordinate comprehensive patient care. Documentation and Compliance:Documents all patient interactions in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Ensures compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), infection control standards, organizational policies, and all regulatory standards. Team Collaboration:Coordinates clinical training, orientation, and ongoing evaluation of new/existing clinical staff as well as completion and submission of clinical competencies and credentialing at time of hire and annually. Mentor, guide, and support Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Medical Office Assistants (MOAs) while assuring adherence to scope of practice guidelines for all clinical staff. Participates in Quality Improvement initiatives. Participates in professional development activities. Attends clinical meetings and relays pertinent information to clinical team members. Demonstrates understanding and appreciation of the roles of each team member in the office. Facilitates effective shared decision-making. Fosters an inclusive environment. Builds a safe, trusting, supportive, and respectful learning environment. Skills Required Skills & Experience:At least one year experience in an acute care or ambulatory care setting. Preferred Skills & Experience:Previous experience in outpatient setting. Schedule Notes M-F, 8am-5pm (1hr lunch); Days 40/week Preferred experience: outpatient setting experience Position is heavy on triage, vaccine administration, some patient rooming required, managing nurse visits. Much of the clinical team (MOA and LPN) are new staff so need clinical support in decision making.
