About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for patient care under the supervision of a delegated physician within the Mount Sinai Health System. This position involves critical thinking, diagnosis, medication and diagnostic ordering, and performing necessary therapeutic and preventive measures in various settings.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, manages, diagnoses, and plans care for patients, including ordering pertinent tests, therapeutics, and medications as required by New York State law and hospital policies.
  • Writes accurate and timely progress notes, admit/discharge notes, and procedure notes into patient records.
  • Communicates effectively with medical teams and other associated staff, providing consultations on patient conditions and care plans.
  • Collaborates with supervising physicians and care teams to ensure timely, respectful, and patient-centered care.
  • Performs delegated clinical duties and tasks efficiently and effectively, adhering to the scope of practice of the supervising physician.
  • Communicates patient assessments, treatment plans, and care strategies to patients, families, and caretakers in a compassionate manner.
  • Facilitates continuity of care across multidisciplinary services and contributes to the efficient flow of patients.
  • Adheres to clinical and institutional policies and procedures related to clinical practice and hospital operations.
  • Maintains required certifications and licenses as per Medical Staff policy and keeps active Mount Sinai Health System privileges as delegated.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an Accredited Physician Assistant Program, with a Master’s degree preferred.
  • NCCPA Board Certification for 5 years.
  • New York State Licensure for 3 years.
  • DEA Licensure for 3 years.
  • BLS and ACLS Certifications for 2 years.
  • Infection Control Certification for 4 years.
  • 0-2 years of relevant clinical experience in the specialty of hire, or recent graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
