About the role

The PA Supervisor oversees and directs a team of PAs and/or APPs to optimize patient care and manage their professional responsibilities. They engage as a liaison between the PA practice and various departments, ensuring efficient and effective patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for administrative clinical needs and human resource activities for the PA team
  • Completes OPPE/FPPE and Performance Appraisal evaluations in a timely manner for the PA team
  • Optimizes the PA role in the designated clinical area for efficiency, effectiveness, and revenue potential
  • Develops, implements, and maintains policies, standards, and processes for patient safety, quality, throughput, and overall patient care
  • Participates and leads in interdisciplinary meetings to improve patient care, quality, safety, and throughput
  • Oversees and manages PA staffing, attendance, recruitment, and retention
  • Facilitates onboarding and orientation of new PA staff hires
  • Participates and/or leads in committees across the hospital site and clinical area of hire
  • Contributes to the knowledge of the clinical area of expertise through writing, teaching, research, and/or informal presentations
  • Engages in PA community in a leadership role, and actively participates in PA activities for education, engagement, recognition, and professional development across hospital sites and health system
  • Promotes self-development and growth in a managerial and leadership role and maintains clinical expertise of the designated clinical area
  • Maintains required certifications and licensure as per Medical Staff policy and maintains active Mount Sinai Health System privileges as delegated by Medical Staff Services and Chair for the department of hire
  • Promotes self-learning and maintenance of continuing medical education (CME) requirements for board certification and practice of evidence-based medicine
  • Promotes a positive work environment
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Mount Sinai Health System’s Mission, Vision, and Values; and incorporates these into the delivery of care for patients and teamwork
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment adhering to infection control standards, policies, and guidelines of the hospital and regulatory bodies
  • Physical ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, and demonstrate dexterity for short or extended periods of time

Qualifications

  • Greater than 5 years' experience as a clinical PA, with additional leadership/management skills preferred
