Physician Assistant, Pediatric Surgery - Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center
About the role
Treats and provides health care services to patients under direction of a physician. Educates patients on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders or diseases. Manages chronic diseases and illnesses and promotes health and wellness.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and gathers patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
- Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results.
- Performs treatment procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and manages infection.
- Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care.
- Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree.
- Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant studies or related field.
- Valid NJ Physician Assistant license.
- American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) Certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant studies or related field. A valid NJ Physician Assistant license and American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) Certification are also required. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is mandatory, while Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification is preferred.
Skills
Strong clinical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential. Proficiency in medical terminology and computer skills are also important.
