About the role

Treats and provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of a physician. Educates patients on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders or diseases. Manages chronic diseases and illnesses and promotes health and wellness.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and gathers patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results.
  • Performs treatment procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and manages infection.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care.
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree.
  • Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant studies or related field.
  • Valid NJ Physician Assistant license.
  • American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) Certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor of Science Degree.
  • Preferred: Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant studies or related field.
  • Required: Valid NJ Physician Assistant license.
  • Required: American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) Certification.
  • Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
