Physical Therapy Assistant-PRN
About the Role
Under the general supervision of department management and the direct supervision of Physical Therapists, you will provide treatment including therapeutic modalities and therapeutic interventions. You will assist in medical records, upkeep of the department environment, safety and equipment, and provide support for improved department functioning. Additionally, you will promote advisory service to other interdisciplinary team members to ensure quality patient care.
This position functions under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director and performs related duties as assigned, consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide therapeutic modalities and interventions under the supervision of Physical Therapists.
- Assist in maintaining medical records and department environment.
- Ensure safety and proper functioning of equipment.
- Support interdisciplinary team members to promote quality patient care.
- Perform duties in alignment with Mercy’s mission and values.
Requirements
- Associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (grandfathered state license accepted).
- State of practice Physical Therapist Assistant license.
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider certification (or completion within probation period).
- General knowledge of treatment principles for diverse diagnoses.
Working Conditions
- Patient care may involve heavy lifting, extensive bending, and prolonged standing.
- Must demonstrate competency in equipment used for delivering modalities.
- Physical demands include pushing up to 40 lbs., pulling up to 60 lbs., gripping up to 50 lbs., and pinching up to 15 lbs.
- Occasional kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- May occasionally use office equipment such as copy machines, telephones, and computers.
