Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Supervision of Physical Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel as required by state licensure and professional standards.
- Adherence to department and patient treatment schedules, timely clinical and billing documentation, and participation in patient care and staffing conferences.
- Referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address comprehensive patient needs.
- Consultation with other members of the rehabilitation team to select appropriate therapeutic regimens.
- Modification of treatment programs based on patient needs.
- Ensuring a safe environment and eliminating fire and safety hazards.
- Ordering supplies and equipment as necessary.
- Cleaning, maintaining, identifying, and reporting equipment needs.
- Patient service focus: ensuring high-quality care in a caring and compassionate atmosphere.
- Evaluation, diagnosis, and planning of physical therapy programs.
- Application of therapeutic techniques, including exercise, manual therapy, airway clearance techniques, and use of modalities.
- Instruction and training in mobility activities and adaptive device use.
- Reevaluation and modification of treatment plans as needed.
- Integration of health and wellness programming into treatment plans.
- Assessment and recommendations for safe mobility in the home and community.
Qualifications
- A valid Physical Therapy license in the state(s) of practice, or proof of license eligibility.
- A Master’s degree in Physical Therapy, or a Master’s degree in a Physical Therapy-related field plus a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy, or a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy plus 5 years of progressively responsible PT experience.
- The qualifying Physical Therapy degree earned outside of the U.S. must be evaluated to be the U.S. equivalent to a degree in Physical Therapy.
- A valid driver’s license or reliable, independent transportation.
