Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Supervision of Physical Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel as required by state licensure and professional standards.
  • Adherence to department and patient treatment schedules, timely clinical and billing documentation, and participation in patient care and staffing conferences.
  • Referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address comprehensive patient needs.
  • Consultation with other members of the rehabilitation team to select appropriate therapeutic regimens.
  • Modification of treatment programs based on patient needs.
  • Ensuring a safe environment and eliminating fire and safety hazards.
  • Ordering supplies and equipment as necessary.
  • Cleaning, maintaining, identifying, and reporting equipment needs.
  • Patient service focus: ensuring high-quality care in a caring and compassionate atmosphere.
  • Evaluation, diagnosis, and planning of physical therapy programs.
  • Application of therapeutic techniques, including exercise, manual therapy, airway clearance techniques, and use of modalities.
  • Instruction and training in mobility activities and adaptive device use.
  • Reevaluation and modification of treatment plans as needed.
  • Integration of health and wellness programming into treatment plans.
  • Assessment and recommendations for safe mobility in the home and community.

Qualifications

  • A valid Physical Therapy license in the state(s) of practice, or proof of license eligibility.
  • A Master’s degree in Physical Therapy, or a Master’s degree in a Physical Therapy-related field plus a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy, or a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy plus 5 years of progressively responsible PT experience.
  • The qualifying Physical Therapy degree earned outside of the U.S. must be evaluated to be the U.S. equivalent to a degree in Physical Therapy.
  • A valid driver’s license or reliable, independent transportation.
