About the role

As a Physical Therapist at Powerback, you will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. This role allows you to evaluate and treat patients in their most functional environment—their home—whether that’s a private residence or an independent living facility. You will assess needs, develop and deliver therapy programs, and collaborate with other disciplines to address comprehensive patient needs. This position offers a flexible schedule and work environment across various settings.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards.
  • Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, timely clinical and billing documentation, and work-related meetings.
  • Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other related meetings.
  • Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address the comprehensive needs of the patient.
  • Consult with members of the rehabilitation team to select appropriate therapeutic regimens consistent with patient needs and capabilities.
  • Adapt programs and plans of care based on individual patient needs.
  • Promote a safe environment and enforce the elimination of fire and safety hazards.
  • Order and maintain supplies and equipment, reporting repair needs as necessary.
  • Prioritize patient service, ensuring a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.
  • Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including goal-setting in collaboration with patients and caregivers.
  • Provide therapeutic techniques such as:
    • Therapeutic exercise (aerobic capacity conditioning, balance coordination, agility training, body mechanics, flexibility, gait training, neuromotor development, relaxation, strength, and endurance).
    • Functional training.
    • Manual therapy.
    • Airway clearance techniques.
    • Integumentary repair and protection.
    • Use of electrotherapeutic, physical agent, and mechanical modalities.
  • Educate patients on chronic disease management, falls assessment, and interventions to reduce fall risk.
  • Provide case management in the home and community.
  • Design, fabricate, fit, and train patients in the use of adaptive devices, including orthotics and prosthetics.
  • Select activities suited to the patient’s physical and mental capacity, intelligence level, and interest.
  • Instruct patients in skills and techniques required for mobility and evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior.
  • Perform routine reexaminations to modify or progress the treatment plan as needed.
  • Incorporate health and wellness programming into treatment plans.
  • Perform home and community mobility assessments and provide recommendations for safe mobility.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Valid Physical Therapy license in the state(s) of practice, or proof of license eligibility.
  • One of the following educational qualifications:
    • Master’s degree in Physical Therapy; or
    • Master’s degree in a Physical Therapy-related field plus a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy; or
    • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy plus 5 years of progressively responsible PT experience.
  • Degrees earned outside the U.S. must be evaluated as equivalent to a U.S. degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Valid driver’s license or reliable, independent transportation to and from patients’ residences.

Pay

Posted salary range: USD $87,802.00 – USD $110,565.00 per year, plus a USD $5,000.00 bonus.
