About the role
As a Physical Therapist at Powerback, you will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. This role allows you to evaluate and treat patients in their most functional environment—their home—whether it’s a private residence or an independent living facility. You will assess needs, develop and deliver therapy programs, and collaborate with other disciplines to address comprehensive patient care. This position offers a flexible schedule and work environment across various settings.
Responsibilities
- Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards.
- Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, timely clinical and billing documentation, and work-related meetings.
- Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other related meetings.
- Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address the comprehensive needs of the patient.
- Consult with members of the rehabilitation team to select appropriate therapeutic regimens based on patient needs and capabilities.
- Adapt programs and plans of care to meet the individual needs of each patient.
- Promote a safe environment and enforce the elimination of fire and safety hazards.
- Order supplies and equipment as necessary; clean, maintain, and report the need for repair of equipment.
- Prioritize patient service, ensuring a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.
- Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures.
- Develop and implement individualized therapy programs, including goal-setting in collaboration with patients and caregivers.
- Provide therapeutic techniques such as:
- Therapeutic exercise (aerobic capacity conditioning, balance coordination, agility training, body mechanics, flexibility, gait training, etc.)
- Functional training
- Manual therapy
- Airway clearance techniques
- Integumentary repair and protection
- Use of electrotherapeutic, physical agent, and mechanical modalities
- Educate patients on chronic disease management, falls assessment, and interventions to reduce fall risk.
- Design, fabricate, and fit adaptive devices, including orthotics and prosthetics, and train patients in their use.
- Instruct patients in skills and techniques required for mobility and evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior.
- Perform routine reexaminations to modify or progress the treatment plan as needed.
- Incorporate health and wellness programming into treatment plans.
- Perform home and community mobility assessments and provide recommendations for safe mobility.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapy license in the state(s) of practice or proof of license eligibility.
- One of the following:
- Master’s degree in Physical Therapy; or
- Master’s degree in a Physical Therapy-related field plus a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy; or
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy plus 5 years of progressively responsible PT experience.
- Degrees earned outside the U.S. must be evaluated as equivalent to a U.S. degree in Physical Therapy.
- Valid driver’s license or reliable, independent transportation to and from patients’ residences.

Pay
USD $92,625.00 - USD $110,565.00 per year.
