Responsibilities
- Perform safe and correct patient transfers as confirmed by the supervising therapist.
- Assist with transporting patients to and from therapy sessions daily.
- Provide support to therapists and assistants during patient treatment as instructed.
- Assist with monitoring patients on equipment, positioning, ambulation, exercise, and ADL training.
- Set up Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) machines and place joint patients on CPM at the end of the treatment day, documented in the daily CPM log (Monday-Friday).
- Report any observed changes in patient behavior or performance to the supervising therapist immediately.
- Follow the designated chain of command to communicate work-related questions, concerns, and present solutions for departmental issues.
- Perform daily temperature checks on hydrocollators and ice pack equipment, recorded in the temperature log (Monday-Friday).
- Post treatment schedules daily in patient rooms (Monday-Friday).
- Prepare and set up treatment tables with clean linen and exercise equipment each morning before treatment begins.
- Clean and return equipment to storage after use, including wheelchairs, transfer boards, weights, walkers, and other equipment at the end of each day.
- Maintain a minimum of 3 full oxygen canisters available each morning prior to treatment.
- Keep the work area neat and orderly by cleaning equipment, treatment tables, hydrocollator, and paraffin bath, and emptying linen according to policy and infection control guidelines, documented in daily/monthly cleaning logs.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
- 6 months of experience in the healthcare field or coursework in the healthcare field.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Good interpersonal and human relations skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good teamwork skills.
- Good critical thinking and decision-making skills.
