About the Role

Assists the therapists and therapist assistants in transporting, lifting, transferring, and treating patients. Supports general patient activity programs under supervision and maintains equipment, supplies, and facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, and safety.
  • Transports patients to and from therapy programs, considering the patient's age, diagnosis, and physical and mental limitations.
  • Assists in conducting specified treatment activities; observes patients and reports observations to therapists or therapist assistants.
  • Prepares treatment areas, patients, and equipment for treatments.
  • Provides assistance to professional staff during patient evaluations and treatments.
  • Ensures the department is clean, neat, and orderly.
  • Performs technical duties in assigned areas.
  • Labels defective equipment and completes assigned maintenance duties.
  • Orders and maintains established levels of supplies.
  • Performs clerical duties such as filing, errands, and answering the telephone upon request.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to enhance the department.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Prior training or experience in a related environment is preferred.
  • Special Skills: Must demonstrate the ability to recognize patients' individual needs based on medical conditions, age (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged, and geriatric), limitations, and planned procedures.
