About the role

The Phlebotomist Representative I - Hospital role is located at Northern Lights Hospital in Dover Foxcroft, ME. This position is hospital-based and works Monday to Friday, with rotational weekends. The schedule is from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all age groups.
  • Accurately label and process specimens according to laboratory protocol.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of phlebotomy carts and work areas.
  • Administer oral solutions according to established training, such as Glucola.
  • Data entry and processing specimens including labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required by test order.
  • Perform departmental-related clerical duties when assigned such as data entry, inventory, stock supplies, and answering phones when needed.
  • Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Observe infection control and safety protocols at all times.
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency.
  • Complete training courses and keep up to date with the latest phlebotomy techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, nursing staff, and lab personnel.
  • Participate in special projects and teams.
  • Rotate through inpatient, outpatient, physicians’ offices, and ED settings as scheduled.
  • Assist with training new staff or students as needed.
  • Stay up to date on company communications.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate proficient phlebotomy skills to include pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime.
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record, if applicable.
  • One year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Customer service and healthcare experience preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.

Pay

Minimum of $20.00+ per hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, with rotational weekends. Schedule is from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
