About the role

The Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient Pediatrics supports overnight pharmacy operations within the pediatric inpatient pharmacy at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. This role serves pediatric inpatient units across the hospital and ensures the safe, accurate, and timely distribution of medications for a high-acuity patient population.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
  • Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
  • Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
  • Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma/GED.
  • Active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP).
  • Within 18 months from the date of hire: Obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) AND Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program preferred.
  • Six months of hospital experience preferred.

Skills

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding tasks.
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, stretch and sit for prolonged periods.

Pay

Minimum hourly: $21.50
Maximum hourly: $31.00

Schedule

This full-time position follows a 70-hours-worked, 80-hours-paid pay structure. Weekend and holiday coverage are built into the scheduled rotation. This role is based at Main Campus with no float requirements.
