Knowledge/Experience
- Knowledge of pharmacy dispensing systems including unit dose, IV admixture, and outpatient prescription processing.
- Knowledge of basic differences in drug therapy in different patient age groups from neonates to geriatric patients.
- Knowledge of systems of measurement (e.g., metric system) and ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and conversions within and between systems of measurement.
- Knowledge about aseptic technique in the compounding of IV admixtures if required in practice location.
- Knowledge of drug nomenclature including brand and generic names.
- Knowledge of pharmacy law and activities allowed and not allowed by law.
- Knowledge and experience in the use of a computer and keyboard.
- Experience with Windows programs, use of e-mail and use of the internet.
Education
No previous training/schooling required.
Licenses/Certifications/Registries
- Must be licensed as a provisional Pharmacy Technician in good standing in the State of Montana.
