Pharmacy Tech – Inpatient Advanced Drug Therapy - 24 hrs - Days -

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

• Prepares and pre-packages chemotherapy medications and/or other medications requiring special handling, preparation or accountability.
• Reads and transcribes prescription orders and prepares prescription labels for medication dispensed.
• Maintains appropriate records of medications dispensed.
• Prepares preliminary drug therapy monitoring forms for use by pharmacists in assessing drug treatment.
• Restocks the drug dispensing areas and maintains the cleanliness and aseptic conditions of the Class II Vertical Flow Hood and/or other required equipment.

Education/Experience Required

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid Pharmacy Technician license from the State of Michigan.
• At least one year of experience as a Hospital Pharmacy Technician and/or Retail Pharmacy Technician.
• The ability to maintain records and perform calculations.
• The ability, when applicable, to safely handle and manipulate cytotoxic and other special drugs and incidental equipment used in drug preparation, including the ability to work aseptically in a vertical flow hood environment.
