Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepares and pre-packages chemotherapy medications and/or other medications requiring special handling, preparation or accountability.
- Reads and transcribes prescription orders and prepares prescription labels for medication dispensed.
- Maintains appropriate records of medications dispensed.
- Prepares preliminary drug therapy monitoring forms for use by pharmacists in assessing drug treatment.
- Restocks the drug dispensing areas and maintains the cleanliness and aseptic conditions of the Class II Vertical Flow Hood and/or other required equipment.
- Affords assistance in preparing and presenting programs and protocols involving proper handling of chemotherapeutic and/or other medications that require special handling, preparation or accountability.
- Affords assistance in training hospital personnel in the safe handling of chemotherapeutic and/or other special agents.
Education/Experience Required
- Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Requires a valid Pharmacy Technician license from the State of Michigan.
- Requires at least one year of experience as a Hospital Pharmacy Technician and/or Retail Pharmacy Technician (retail experience applies only to medication history positions).
