Responsibilities
- Participates in and supports medication preparation, distribution, compounding (sterile and non-sterile), and inventory management activities, as applicable.
- Maintains a high level of proficiency in assigned pharmacy area(s), consistently meeting established accuracy, quality, and productivity standards.
- Develops, maintains, and delivers employee training programs and competency materials.
- Demonstrates accountability and competency in completing assigned duties and projects.
- Maintains a strong understanding of workflows within specialized pharmacy area(s).
- Completes all assigned quality assurance and productivity reports accurately and on time, ensuring proper documentation, record retention, and timely follow-up on findings.
- Proactively researches and monitors issues, initiates corrective actions, and follows through until resolution is achieved.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement and regularly provides recommendations for process enhancements.
- Completes and maintains all institutional and divisional requirements related to licensure, accreditation, mandatory education, and testing.
- Develops, implements, and supports special projects that contribute to organizational goals and objectives.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
- Captures and analyzes data to identify trends and make informed decisions.
- Coordinates and prepares complex materials, including PowerPoint presentations, email communications, Excel spreadsheets, and SharePoint resources, utilizing Microsoft 365 applications.
- Facilitates effective and professional communication across interdepartmental and interdisciplinary teams to support timely decision-making and accurate information sharing.
- Assists with and supports departmental, area-specific, committee, and subcommittee meetings within the Division of Pharmacy.
- Enhances and implements workflows to support regulatory compliance, including but not limited to: USP standards, inventory optimization, accreditation requirements, and drug shortage management.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certificate from an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program, or
- Associate's degree, or
- Additional years of equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a pharmacy technician in:
- Hospital
- Infusion center
- Retail pharmacy
- Experience training pharmacy staff
- Prior leadership experience
Qualifications
- Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP)
- Current national pharmacy technician certification through:
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), or
- National Health career Association (NHA)
- Current Intravenous Medication Certification (IV - Sterile Products) sponsored by:
- An ACPE provider, or
- An ASHP- or ASHP/ACPE-accredited pharmacy technician training program
- Other PTCB assessment-based certificates or nationally recognized certifications relevant to job responsibilities
Skills

Schedule
Dayshift: 8:00a - 4:30p (Shift flexibility +/- 2 hours is required depending on the pharmacy operational needs)
