About the role
The Pharmacy Technician – Ambulatory supports one of Cleveland Clinic’s busiest outpatient pharmacies, located in the JJ Building on Euclid Avenue at Main Campus. Processing approximately 1,100 prescriptions each day, this high-volume pharmacy offers caregivers the opportunity to develop expertise across multiple areas of ambulatory pharmacy operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients at the register
- Prepare new and refill prescription orders
- Perform prescription data entry and insurance processing
- Manage inventory through cycle counts, restocking, and ordering supplies
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, providers, care teams, and other internal partners
- Rotate through multiple workflow stations to ensure accurate, efficient medication dispensing and a seamless patient experience in a fast-paced outpatient environment
Requirements
- Full-time, Monday through Friday, rotating 8-hour shifts of 6:45am–3:15pm, 8:30am–5:00pm, 10:00am–6:30pm, and 11:45am–8:15pm
- Rotating weekend schedule approximately every 8th–9th weekend
- Holiday rotation approximately once every three years
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP)
- Within 18 months from the date of hire: Obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) AND Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy
Preferred qualifications
- Six months of hospital experience
- Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program
- Prior outpatient/community experience
Physical Requirements
Able to perform the job while standing, reaching, stretching, stooping, and sitting for prolonged times; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 20 lbs. while walking, stooping, bending and reaching.
