Advanced Pharmacy Technician - Specialty Pharmacy
About the role
At TriHealth Pharmacy Solutions, Advanced Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in the medication use process, supporting the delivery of high-quality care for patients with complex, chronic, or rare conditions. This role focuses on specialized medications that require enhanced coordination, precision, and patient engagement.
Responsibilities
- Meditation Support: Assists pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of hazardous and non-hazardous medications, in full compliance with state and federal regulations, and under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Operational Excellence: Manages inventory, processes prescriptions, and performs billing-related tasks specific to high-cost and specialty medications.
- Patient-Centered Service: Provides exceptional customer service and patient support, helping to ensure medication access, adherence, and continuity of care.
- Commitment to Safety and Quality: Contributes to the safe, accurate, and timely distribution of medications, reflecting a strong commitment to patient safety and quality care.
- Pharmacy Call Center: Be an active participant in the pharmacy call center, including taking inbound and outbound calls from patients, physicians, insurance companies, and other third-party entities.
- Shipping: Responsible for accurate and timely medication distribution through the packaging, labeling, and shipping of prescriptions from TriHealth Pharmacy Solutions to the patient’s preferred delivery location.
- Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation Compliance: Demonstrates competency and compliance in Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation standards through routine competencies (written and observational), periodic audits, and rounding visits.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED or GED (Required).
- Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
- 2 - 3 years Previous or current Pharmacy Technician experience (Required)
- 3 - 4 years Outpatient Pharmacy experience desired (Preferred)
- Other National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) is required. Current national Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) required (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board [PTCB] or ExCPT Certification by the National Healthcareer Association)
- Current national Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) required (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board [PTCB] or ExCPT Certification by the National Healthcareer Association)
- Active registration with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician
Qualifications

Skills
- Experience with EPIC Willow Dispensing System
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to handle hazardous drugs safely
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of specialty pharmacy accreditation standards
