About the Role

The Pharmacy Automation/IT Technician is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the automated medication distribution systems to achieve high quality standard of care in pharmacy medication storage and distribution. Provides ongoing monitoring of processes surrounding the automated distribution of medications, inventory usage, management of automated dispensing cabinets, hospital information systems, and other IT systems as assigned. Collaborates in developing training and education programs for pharmacy and clinical staff and students.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate an aptitude and interest in computer system support.
  • Understand written, visual, and other sensory stimuli.
  • Cope effectively with stressful situations and time constraints.
  • Logically solve problems and follow written and verbal instructions.

Requirements

  • Experience with automated dispensing machines (required).
  • Ability to work with computer systems (required).
  • One year of experience in a hospital pharmacy (required).
  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Good math skills, including basic algebra.
  • Accurate typing with moderate speed.
  • Valid Iowa driver’s license to service all campuses.

Qualifications

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) (required).
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy within thirty days after employment (required).
  • Maintain a current Iowa Pharmacy Technician Registration and be in good standing with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners.
  • Provide a photocopy of a renewal certificate to the Pharmacy Management Team prior to the expiration date of current certificate to continue employment.

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, with after hours and weekends as needed.
