A Day in the Life

Certification/Registration

• Certified pharmacy technician through PTCB or ExCPT
• Registration with the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a "Certified Pharmacy Technician"
• High School Degree, College Preferred

Knowledge/Skills

• Good interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency in reading and writing in English
• Computer keyboard operations
• Basic math skills including ratios, percentages, and weights
• Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals

Duties & Functions

• Prepare and pack medication doses before pharmacist review and dispensing
• Monitor drug inventory levels to maintain a steady supply without excess stockpiling
• Enter and retrieve information from a database or patient profiles
• Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on pharmacy equipment, printers, computers, and telecommunication devices with appropriate training
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Perform other duties as assigned
