Per Diem Room Service Wait Staff - Room Service

About the role

The Room Service Wait Staff position at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Texas Medical Center works as the key link in providing excellent customer service to patients, caregivers and guests while delivering breakfast, lunch, and dinner to their room.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes knowledge of menu and modified diets to ensure that menu selections comply with prescribed diet, age-related needs, and other patient conditions.
• Assembles, delivers, and serves meals and nourishments.
• Timely and accurately retrieves trays, records food intake and returns trays to ware washing area.
• Inventories, assembles, and delivers supplies.
• Communicates effectively with nursing and nutrition staff to coordinate meal service with other patient care functions.
• Follows highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Communicates effectively, assures accuracy, food presentation, and diet compliance, explains the menu selection process, assists patient with menu selection and reassures delivery and pick up within established time frame.
• Adequately adheres to policies, guidelines, and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year experience in a patient care or hospitality environment.
• A positive attitude, strong time management skills, and commitment to teamwork.
• Texas Food Handlers Certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).

Qualifications

• Required: High School or equivalent.
• Preferred: At least one year of restaurant or hotel wait staff experience.

Pay

$20,748 annually | $21.00 an hour

Schedule

Saturday and Sunday ONLY | 2:00pm - 10:30pm | Rotating 8-hour shifts | Holidays (holidays are vary rare)
