Per Diem Psychiatric RN

About the role

Provide direct nursing care within the inpatient/geriatrics department, serving diverse age groups from neonate to geriatric. Act as a role model to foster a positive work environment and ensure high‑quality patient care while adhering to hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Implement and document individualized care plans, including discharge planning and patient/family education.
• Administer medications, including IV, following the Seven Rights; document clinical findings.
• Assist with tests, procedures, and emergency measures as needed.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and promote patient safety by identifying risks and reporting concerns.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and precept new staff.
• Ensure accurate medical records, handle triage calls, and support patient participation in their care.
• Report safety issues, medical errors, or near‑misses promptly.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program; RN licensure in NM or reciprocal agreement.
• CPR/BLS certification required within 30 days.
• Preferred certifications: PALS, TNCC, ENPC, or other specialty certifications.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in environments with biohazards requiring PPE.
• Demonstrates commitment to safety, patient‑centered care, and professional growth.
