Per Diem Psychiatric Nurse

Role Overview: Provide direct nursing care within a hospital setting, supporting adult and pediatric patients across various units. Serve as a clinical leader and role model to promote a positive work environment and ensure quality patient care. Key Responsibilities Ensure patient safety by following policies, reporting hazards, and promoting a safe environmentImplement individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team, including discharge planning and patient educationAdminister medications, including IVs, adhering to the Seven Rights, and document findingsAssist with tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent and preparationRespond to emergencies and institute measures as neededMaintain accurate medical records and handle patient inquiriesParticipate in orientation and training, mentoring new staff as appropriateIdentify and report safety concerns, medical errors, and near missesEncourage patient participation in their care through communication and education Qualifications & Skills Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing programMinimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experienceCurrent RN licensure in NM or reciprocal jurisdictionCPR/BLS certification and ACLS certification requiredPhysical ability to perform heavy work and respond to emergency situationsExperience in diverse patient populations and units preferred; bilingual skills advantageousKnowledge of hospital policies, safety protocols, and emergency procedures Additional Requirements: Adherence to safety protocols involving PPE and biohazard handling; completion of tuberculosis testing as required.
